Yes, it's a big annoyance. I haven't figured out a way to disable the notification bar myself :( And yes, it is IE's fault.

Hi,
I'm using it with VS2010, IE10, windows 7. However, each time viewing the xml inside visual studio (debugging), the notification bar "allow block content" appears (every time). I've gone to IE options-> advance - allow scripts to run from my computer. But still no success.

Any ideas how to disable the notification bar that is generated by IE when using xml visualizer?

(As i'm using it at least a few times in each minute, it's really a big annoyance for me. I understand we can ignore it, but I need to click on it so that i can use the expand-collapse feature provided).

Yeah, it isn't xml visualizer's fault... it's damn IE somehow. Great tool by the way. I love it.

Xml Visualizer v.2 is a free debug visualizer for Visual Studio 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2012. It uses Internet Explorer as Xml rendering engine and features many improvements over the standard Xml Visualizer:

- Execution of XPath queries and use of XPath functions
- Create, edit and apply XSL transformations
- Editor with both Xml and XSLT debugging capabilities
- Inject Xml back into the running application
- Validate Xml and XSL against XSD
- Search functionality

Xml Visualizer v.2 works in all editions of Visual Studio 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2012 including Express Editions.
XML Visualizer v.2 is also available as a standalone application and as a user control.

Visual Studio plugin installation
Only the file XmlVisualizer.dll is required to run and use Xml Visualizer v.2.

Place XmlVisualizer.dll in:

"My Documents\Visual Studio version\Visualizers", e.g.: "My Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Visualizers" (for Visual Studio 2012)

If "Visualizers" directory doesn't exist, then create it manually.

If you want to use the visualizer for remote debugging, copy XmlVisualizer.dll to the same path on the remote computer.

If Visual Studio is open, then restart Visual Studio.

Source Code
The Source Code includes the following projects:

- Visualizer
- DebugVisualizer
- TestDebugVisualizer
- StandAloneVisualizer
- TestStandAloneVisualizer

"Visualizer" contains the primary Visualizer User Control and a form hosting the Visualizer User Control. The User Control contains the core functionality of XML Visualizer v.2.

If you have both Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2008 installed, there can be a conflict between Microsoft.VisualStudio.DebuggerVisualizers.dll version 8.0.0.0 (used by Visual Studio 2005) and Microsoft.VisualStudio.DebuggerVisualizers.dll version 9.0.0.0 (used by Visual Studio 2008).

I have problem when I try to experiment with XHTML files as XML files. I must use XHTML DTD because XHTML contains entities like   (defined in the DTD). But then I have a problem with namespaces which are not working (e.g. XPath expressions). I believe namespace handling is turned off. Is there a possibility to turn it on? Thanks, Miskoy

I just ran into this. The problem is a security counter measure inside windows. When you download some files directly from the internet, they have reduced security permissions.

To override the security default behavior after the download, right click on the DLL in Windows Explorer and select "Properties". At the bottom of the properties page, there is a button that says "Unblock". Click it and click ok. Now the extension will load in Visual Studio.
